ECTS System

The European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is implemented at the College. ECTS credits are allocated after successful completion of each course based on the weight in terms of the workload that students need in order to achieve the learning outcomes of their education, i.e. what the student is expected to know, to understand and to be able to do after completing his program of study.

The workload is not limited to participation hours, but indicates the time students typically need to complete the learning activities and include various educational components, such as lectures, practical training, seminars, study at home (homework), examinations (continuous assessment and final exams), assignments, writing, practical applications etc., required for the completion of their studies.

ECTS credits are allocated to qualifications/ programs of study of the College, as well as to their educational components (i.e. modules, course units, assignment writing, laboratory work, seminars, work placements). 1 ECTS credit represents 25-30 hours work load. 30 ECTS credits represent the workload of a full-time semester and 60 ECTS credits represent the workload of an entire year on full-time (academic year). The ECTS per course appear in the structure of each Programme offered.

The ECTS credits provided per course in the College programs can be transferred to another program of the College or other Educational Institution in Cyprus or abroad.

ECTS and recognition of Erasmus+ mobility

The College ensures full automatic recognition of credits (based on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System– ECTS), earned during a period of study/training abroad (for study or traineeship), including during blended mobility, subject to agreed learning agreement concerning the mobility, signed by all parties involved.

The student’s mobility activities are recorded in a transparent way indicating the original course/ subject titles at the Higher Edication Institution abroad, in the national language and English, and, as agreed in the learning agreement and confirmed by the Transcript of Records/ Traineeship Certificate, ensures that all credits gained for learning outcomes satisfactorily achieved during a period of study/training abroad, are fully and automatically recognised, as an integral part of student's degree programme.

Τhose credits are transferred without delay into the student’s records, and are counted towards the student’s degree without any additional work or assessment of the student.

When the student successfully completes his/her programme of study and will receive a Title of Study, the College will be issuing a Diploma Supplement (DS) to accompany the degree awarded. In the DS, the College will list the recognised modules/ units/ training activities undertaken during the student’s mobility period, indicating also where these mobility activities were carried out
